Abstract

1535810 Mechanical switches NORTHERN TELECOM Ltd 15 April 1976 [16 April 1975] 15742/76 Heading H1N In a push-button switch snap-action switch a domed movable contact member 10, Figs. 1, 5, has a central portion 16 connected to a flat sheet portion 11 by radial webs 17 with upwardly bent portions 21 and has spring contacts 12-15 extending radially between the webs 17 which engage fixed contacts 26 when the central portion 16 snaps below the plane of the flat sheet portion 11. The contact member may be engaged by a push-button 36 which is one of a number of buttons integral with a resilient sheet 33 through webs (34), Fig. 6 (not shown), having reduced thickness portions 35 which act as hinges. The button 36 may act through a reduced portion 30 of a flexible web 29. In an alternative embodiment the push-buttons (43), Fig. 12 (not shown), act on the diaphragms through helical compression springs (46). The contact members of the switches on a keyboard are arranged to engage contacts on a common printed circuit board arranged to provide a coded output
