Abstract

1535072 Centrifugal pumps and fans WORTHINGTON-SIMPSON Ltd 1 July 1976 27496/76 Heading F1C [Also in Division F2] In a machine which may be a gear-box or a fan but as particularly described is a centrifugal pump, the casing 3 of the machine has a side bracket 2 which supports a stationary sleeve 1, a shaft 5 being journalled in a bearing 7 and in a further bearing 4 carried by the inner end of the sleeve. Preferably, the sleeve 1 is enclosed by a sheath 8 which is fixed to the pump impeller 10 and rotates with the impeller. The sheath 8 extends through a stuffing box 9 into a packed cavity in the end of the bracket 2.
