Abstract
1534715 Two-part couplings LINOLITE Ltd 20 Aug 1976 [20 Aug 1975] 34652/75 Heading H2E A mains electricity supply socket has incorporated in the electrical path to the contact which is live in use a positive temperature coefficient (p.t.c.) resistor. As shown, a shaver socket 4 is provided with a p.t.c. resistor 28. The temperature coefficient of the resistor is selected so to provide a resistance at normal room temperature of less than 200 ohms, and preferably less than 80 ohms, but which increases rapidly at a set temperature to a resistance of over 10,000 ohms at a temperature of 130‹ C., which is arranged to be its stable temperature during a short circuit across the socket terminals. The shaver socket 4 forms part of an assembly 2 in which are also located fluorescent light sockets 6, 8, the light sockets and the shaver socket being connected by way of a switch 22 to mains connectors 10, 12.
