[Class 38 (i)] An adapter for enabling a lamp or the like to be controlled by a remote switch consists of a unitary plug and socket 1, one end of which has a pair of contacts 6, 7 for connection to a current supply while the other end has contacts 10 for connection to a current consuming device (e.g., a lamp 4), one of the supply contacts 7 being directly connected to one of the consuming contacts 10, and other contacts at each end being connected by a flexible multiple conductor having three or more conductors 13 to a remote switch or switches 12 controlling parallel circuits including said contacts. This arrangement enables a resistance 14, Fig. 1, to be included in circuit with the switch, to provide for using the lamp either at full brilliance, or dimmed. The resistance 14 may be housed within the member 1. and further resistances 15 may be inserted in one or other of the leads 13. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, a doublefilament lamp is used in conjunction with a multiple switch or separate switches 12, 12<1>, the member 1 having three inner contacts 10, one of which is directly connected to one of the outer contacts. With 'this arrangement, a single filament, or both filaments either in series or parallel, may be used. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91, describes also the provision of an on-and-off switch directlv connected to terminals of the combined plug and socket by two leads. It also describes the indirect connection of the plug and socket to a remote switch through a distribution board. Mention is also made of the application of the arrangement shown in Fig. 2 to an electric stove having two separate heating-elements. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
