Abstract
153,462. Andrews, H., (trading as Andrews Fire-Arms & Accessories Co.). Nov. 10, 1919. Cartridge-unloading machines.-Consists in removing bullets from cartridges by means of two wheels, rollers, or spindles C, D rotating in opposite directions and adapted to grip a bullet A between them. The same pair of rollers may be shaped to extract several bullets at once; and to ensure a grip, the surface of the rollers is serrated or jagged. The cartridges B may be inserted in the apparatus singly or in clips. In order to receive the cartridges and to hold them during the operation, a slot G is provided in the box H enclosing the rollers, and holes F in a hinged cover plate E. The rollers are driven through worm or other suitable gearing from a hand-wheel or a pulley L. A loose pulley may be arranged adjacent the driving-pulley L. The bullets may be discharged over still or running water, and revolving brushes may be provided to remove explosive grains that might adhere to the rollers.
