Abstract

153,145. Plastow, F. J. Sept. 10, 1919. Pianofortes; imitating other instruments. - A pianoforte is fitted with one or more pivoted pads which can be moved to and from the strings for the purpose of imitating a banjo. A pad c is hinged at g to levers f carried by a rod d mounted in end bearings e. The rod d extends the whole or part of the length of the piano, and is provided with operating mechanism connected to a pedal, stop &c. The pad consists of a back board or plate provided with holes. A layer of felt is secured to the face of the board and the felt is covered with a layer of grooved or corrugated material such as strawboard. A loose facing of parchment &c. paper is secured over the whole at its edges.
