Abstract

187,704. Howell, J. T. July 22, 1921. Pianoforte bridges.-In a pianoforte or similar musical instrument the bridges 1 for the strings 5 are made of moulded metal, the lower bridge being screwed to a wooden strip 2 adhesively secured to the sound-board and the upper bridge being preferably screwed directly to the wrest-plank, although a wooden strip may be interposed, if desired. A sheet of felt 4 may be placed between the bridge and the strip 2. The strings are tensioned by means of adjustable bars 6. If desired, a wooden block 10 covered with felt or similar material is arranged between the upper bar 6 and the wrest pins 9.
