Abstract

452,570. Stringed musical instruments. GRIMSHAW, E., 13, Woodville Road, Golders Green, London. March 25, 1936, No. 8927. [Class 88 (ii)] The bridge of a guitar, mandolin, &c. is in two parts 1,3, and the upper part 3 may be raised by means of wedges 2 sliding in inclined tracks 1b, 1c in the lower part 1, to increase the distance of the strings from the fingerboard. The upper part 3 also carries notched string-rests 4 of ivorine, wood, bone &c. movable in dovetail grooves 3d to vary slightly the active lengths of the strings.
