Abstract

1531332 Packaging milk PAPETERIES DE BELGIQUE 23 Jan 1976 [24 Jan 1975] 02768/76 Heading B8C Apparatus for packaging a sterile liquid, e.g. milk, in a continuous tubular pack comprises an enclosure containing the following: a bath 15 and a heated drum 18 for sterilizing the web 1 of material to be formed into the tubular pack; guide rollers 28, 30, 33, rollers for folding the web into a longitudinally open flattened tube, and welding rollers 54 for closing the tube longitudinally; a pipe for filling the tube with sterile liquid; means 11 for passing sterile gas into the enclosure to dry the web; slot means for entry of the web into the enclosure and exit therefrom of the filled tube; and means for passing hot water to the enclosure in the absence of the web to sterilize the enclosure. The tube is opened out upstream of the rollers 54, and the sterile liquid supply pipe for filling the tube also being positioned in the vicinity of the sealing rollers 54. The hot water for sterilizing the enclosure may be supplied via the sterile liquid supply tube; supply of either being controlled by a valve. Apparatus 55 is provided outside the enclosure for welding the tube transversely and cutting it into separate packs.
