Abstract

Spring shackles. - Spring suspensions for vehicles comprise a main bearing spring connected to a lever mounted on the axle of the vehicle, and an auxiliary conical volute spring bearing at one end against the lever and at the other end against a seating on the main spring or on the vehicle body. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, which comprises a rear suspension, a transverse laminated spring 14 secured to the chassis is connected at each end by a shackle 16 to a. lever 18 which is pivoted at 19 to a perch 20<1> on the axle casing 38. The perch 20<1> is provided with a stop 39 to limit the movement of the lever 18 when the vehicle is unloaded. An auxiliary spring 30 is mounted at each end of the spring 14 and bears against a seating on the slotted end 21 of the lever 18 and a seating 25 on the spring 14. The axes of the springs 30 are inclined to the axle of the vehicle. The seatings 25 are carried by supporting members 26 en channel-section members 29 which are secured to the spring 14 by bolts 37.
