Abstract

27,702. Wolseley Tool and Motor Car Co., and Remington, A. A. Dec. 2. Equalizing load on springs; springs, arrangement of.-Relates to devices for minimizing rolling in which the spring system at one end of an axle is connected to that at the other end through arms carried by a transverse shaft mounted in bearings upon the chassis. In one arrangement, Fig. 1, the arms e at each end of the shaft E is formed as a laminated spring, adapted to resist movement in either direction from its normal position. The end of each arm e is connected by a link F with the axle B immediately above the usual semielliptic spring A, which is used in conjunction with a scroll-iron or a cee-spring D. In a modification, shown in plan in Fig. 4, rigid arms e are employed, and the transverse shaft E' is centrally divided, a rigid arm e' on one portion being connected to a spring arm e<2> on the other portion. In a further modification, Fig. 5, a similar shaft E<1> in spring- connected parts is employed in combination with a spring system of the kind described in Specification 16,879/11, the parts of the shaft E' being hollow and mounted upon the shaft G, to which the main springs A are secured.
