Abstract
1529523 Vehicle lighting control J F MCGOWAN 24 Oct 1977 [23 July 1976] 30755/76 Heading G1A Vehicle lighting is controlled by a pholo-electric switching circuit coupled to a timer using integrated circuitry comprising a multi-vibrator and two voltage comparators to introduce a delay before switching back to the original lighting condition. A photo-resistor (c) responds to a drop in ambient intensity e.g. due to fog, low visibility &c. to switch, via an integrated circuit amplifier and a transistor (H), a first relay. This switches a second relay to energize the dipped headlamps. When the vehicle emerges from the low visibility zone and ambient illumination increases, the first relay switches off and starts the timer, so that there is a delay before the second relay is de-energized and the vehicle lamps de-energized. The delay period is set by an R.C. circuit K, N associated with the integrated circuit NE555 and is preferably in the region of one minute. An override switch and operator indication lamp are provided.
