Abstract

A vehicle, for example a motor car, has a sensor 1 mounted inside the vehicle so that at night time or low light level the car side lights will switch on. The headlights may additionally switch on. This switching device will not come into operation until the engine has started, or the ignition is switched on. Alternatively a warning light 2 may alert the driver to switch on the lights manually. <IMAGE>

Description

VEHICLE LIGHT SENSOR The invention relates to any motor vehicle.
Motor cars and any other road vehicle require lights for night time or poor visability. These are switched on manually from inside the vehicle. This method of turning lights on manually can result in drivers forgetting to turn them on, this can be dangerous to other road users.
The invention being a light sensor that when the light level falls below a set level, the vehicle's lights will switch on automatically and a warning indicated to the driver.
A motor car has been chosen as an example along with a drawing in which: Figure 1 snows a view from outside the car with lights automatically switched on.
Figure 2 shows a view from inside the car with warning lights automatically switched on.
Refering to the drawing, the sensor 1 has sensored bad light and the headlights 4 have switched on and the warning light 2 has alerted the ariver.
In order to switch off warning light on dashboard headlights must be switched on manually by switch 5.

Claims (4)

1. A light sensor mounted inside the vehicle connected to the vehicle's side lights to allow lights to switch on/off automatically as the light level falls and rises.
2. A light sensor mounted inside the vehicle, as claimed in 1, connected to vehicle headlights to allow lights to switch on/off automatically as the light level falls and rises.
3. A light sensor as claimed in 1 and 2 with a facility to indicate to the driver by means of a warning on dash-board.
4. A light sensor mounted inside the vehicle to give a warning signal to the driver to switch lights on manually.
