Abstract

1528911 Joint making packing; pipe joints YORKSHIRE IMPERIAL PLASTICS Ltd 19 Nov 1975 [20 Aug 1974] 36554/74 Headings F2B and F2G An elastomeric ring 10 for use in a spigot 15 and socket 17 pipe joint has an annular recess 11 and an annular skirt 22, the recess 11 having inner and outer walls, 12, 13 respectively, substantially parallel to the axis of the ring 10, and the skirt 22 having an inwardly-directed annular surface 23 which is outwardly flared from the ring adjacent the outer wall 13, and also an outwardly-directed annular surface 21 which in use makes circumferential sealing contact with an internal surface of the socket 17. In use the recess 11 grips and makes sealing contact on at least one of its walls 12, 13. Alternative forms of the recess are shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3 (not shown).
