Abstract

1528570 Hydraulic intensifiers E GOULDEN 22 Dec 1975 [25 Sept 1974] 41616/74 Heading F1D In the intensifier shown, Fig. 1, liquid supplied to port 24 passes through a bore 12 and ball-valve 13 into a bore 21 and out through an outlet 25 to effect rapid low-pressure operation. As pressure builds up, the valve 13 closes and pressure acting on the piston 10 moves the stepped piston to the right against a spring 3. A rod 213 lifts the ball 13 when the piston is fully returned. In Fig. 2, liquid flows from a reservoir 30 through a non-return valve 32 into a chamber 20 as the piston retracts and is pushed out through an adjustable relief valve 33, the resistance of which augments or may replace the spring 3, when the piston is moving to the right.
