1528522 Method of building tunnel-type furnaces A ROLIA 6 Feb 1976 [7 Feb 1975] 04826/76 Heading F4B A method of building a flat-vault tunnel-type furnace comprises erecting a plurality of equally spaced pairs of stanchions 3, the stanchions of each pair being spaced apart at a distance equal to the width of the furnace and then laying vault-bearing cross members 2 which extend from one side of the furnace to the other so that they are supported by the stanchions. Simultaneously with or subsequent to this operation walls of suitable thermally-insulating material 9 are erected between the stanchions 3. Brickwork or metal panels may be laid outside the insulating material 9.
