Abstract
1331406 Walking beam furnaces STEIN ATKINSON STURDY Ltd 24 April 1972 [23 April 1971] 18831/72 Heading F4B A walking beam furnace has two sets of stationary beams 2 on cross-members 4 connecting upright posts 10 and two sets of movable beams or upright posts 5, the posts 5 and 10 being arranged alternately in longitudinal lines, longitudinal burners 9 firing into the spaces so formed between the said lines. The posts 5 are disposed on beam supports 6 arranged to be given the known cyclic conveying action. The burners 9 are disposed in walls (8, Fig. 3) extending across the furnace and further longitudinal burners 7 are arranged above the workpieces W.
