In a furnace roof of the type in which rows of side-by-side pairs of bricks 1 are suspended by hangers 9 from the flanges 6 of an I-section beam 4, at least one pair of bricks comprises one brick 2 having two hangers 11 spaced apart along the length of the beam and accommodating the hanger 9 of the other brick 1 of the pair between them. One brick 1 of each pair has an S-shaped hanger 9 engaging a hole 7 in a tab 3, while the other brick of a pair has inverted J-hangers 11 welded to spaced-apart tabs 3.
