Abstract

1440568 Mine arch support stilts BRITISH STEEL CORP 22 Nov 1973 [23 Nov 1972] 54235/72 Heading E1E A yielding stilt 10 for a mine roof support arch is provided with an elongated slot 13 to position the arch and a series of holes 17 longitudinally aligned therewith to form yielding bridges 19. The stilt is made of steel and the holes are preferably punched therein. In a modification, the stilt is constructed from members of channel section and in a further modification the slots are elongated and arranged with their longitudinal axes transverse to that of the stilt which is re-inforced by plates at its upper end, see Figs. 4 and 5, (not shown), respectively.
