Abstract

152,549. Quinonero, F. Dec. 24, 1919. Magnetic separators.-A magnetic separator for ores has a series of electro-magnets 17 inside a rotating cylinder with peripheral projections arranged over a shaking table having an upper part 1 and a stepped lower part 2. This table is adjustable for height at a pivot 11 and is shaken by a cam 7 and a rod 9 assisted by a helical spring 10 provided with a rubber cushion and a plate spring 12 on which the table rests. The ore is fed on to the table from a hopper 5 and distributing-plate 4. At the step on the surface of the table, the ore is thrown on to the surface of the cylinder by a feed-roller 6. The magnetic portion is then carried forward to a collecting hopper 24, and the non-magnetic portion assisted by the shaking of the table is conveyed to the hopper 16.
