1525378 Selective printing; photographic type-composing MAATSCHAPPIJ VAN BERKELS PATENT NV 13 April 1977 [6 Aug 1976] 15220/77 Headings B6F and B6W [Also in Division G1] Apparatus for recording multi-line texts, e.g. on photosensitive sales labels 27, comprises a device for moving the labels 27 through a recording zone at which there is an optical projector (23) Fig. 1 (not shown) incorporating a fixed matrix of characters 50 in rows extending across the labels 27, the projector (23) being activated to selectively project characters in different rows simultaneously with alignment of different lines 46 of the labels with different rows of the matrix. Labels 27 are fed stepwise past the matrix which is in a liquid crystal cell (30) Fig. 4 (not shown) having electrodes of a shape suitable for producing the desired characters 50 when suitably addressed, e.g. by signals from a weighing machine (11) Fig. 1 (not shown) and a text input unit (20).
