Abstract
1524957 Supplying fuel to IC engines BRIDGEMORE ENG Ltd 31 Oct 1975 [13 Nov 1974] 49122/74 Heading F1B [Also in Divisions B1 and F2] An air bleeding device for the fuel system of fuel injection engines has, a closed tank 1 with inlet 2, outlet 3 and an air bleed opening 5, a float 8 controlling valves 5A, 3A, and carrying a magnet 12 at its lower end to operate a reed switch 13 carried in the bottom of,the tank. In operation the float falls when air is collected at the top of the tank and thus valve 5A is unseated. If collected air increases in volume the float falls further, the reed switch operates and an alarm is thus actuated. Ultimately, if the collected air continues to increase valve 3A is seated to interrupt fuel supply to the engine and prevent the fuel system becoming air filled. Other types of valves may be used as alternative to 5A, 5B.
