Abstract
152,407. Weis, J. A. July 11, 1919. Girders.-The lazytongs construction described in Specification 144,395, [Class 4, Aeronautics], is applied to the construction of a folding girder or bridge. The upper and lower booms consist of pairs of links such as 10, 11 and 27, 28 con nected bv central pivots 15, 32 and end pivots 42. 43 so that they mav fold or be extended into alinement. When so extended, stops 62, 66 limit the movement. The lower booms are cross-braced horizontally to carry a floor and outside platform, and at each side the top and bottom booms are connected at the centres of the links by struts which become vertical when the bridge is extended. The links at one end may be pivoted to fixed brackets, or to a truck on which the bridge may be carried; or folding sections of the bridge may be pivoted to pontoons.
