Abstract

1523321 Bale gripper R SANDERSON 31 Oct 1975 [3 July 1975] 28054/75 Heading B8H A bale gripper for handling so called "big" or round bales comprises a frame 10 for attachment to a lift truck or the like and a pair of arms 12 mounted respectively on telescopic structures 11a movable within tubes 11 of the frame by an hydraulic actuator 14. Bale engaging pads 13 are rotatably mounted at the free ends of the arms 12 and a cutter drum 15 is rotably mounted on further arms 16 pivotally mounted on the frame for movement by an hydraulic actuator 17 to move the drum towards and away from a gripped bale. The drum is rotatably driven by an hydraulic motor 18 whereby on engagement with the gripped bale it causes same to be unwound or unwrapped. Alternatively one of the pads 13 may be driven and the drum held stationary.
