Abstract

1522562 Mineral-mining installations GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA 26 Nov 1976 [5 Dec 1975] 49420/76 Heading E1F [Also in Division B8] The means for moving a sprocket wheel 20 for adjusting the tension of the haulage chain of a mineral-mining machine involves a hydraulically actuated piston cylinder arrangement 22 and a locking device 30 for mechanically locking the sprocket wheel to an associated structural component of a mining installation of which the machine forms a part in one of a number of positions to which the sprocket wheel may be moved relative to the structural component by the piston cylinder unit. Preferably the wheel is mounted in a housing 18 slidably associated with a conveyor 10 and the piston cylinder arrangement involves two parallel, short stroke piston cylinder units mounted within the housing to act between the housing and the conveyor. A magnet may be mounted on the locking device for controlling an electromagnetically operated switch 34 in a safety circuit of the motor means driving the sprocket. The locking device can comprise a manually movable bolt 29 that can be engaged in holes 31 in a plate 16 secured to the side of the conveyor 10.
