Abstract

1530719 Filter press NIPPON GAISHI KK and NORITAKE IRON WORKS CO Ltd 17 Dec 1976 52851/76 Heading BID A filter press comprises plates 1 between which are arranged cloths 2 linked in pairs by chains 45 and suspended by. springs 43, and a cloth-vibrating mechanism movable by endless chain 9 lengthwise of the press along rail 3 and comprising a hammer 13 which describes a circular motion in a vertical plane to strike and vibrate transverse cloth-supporting bars 42 to discharge filter cake. Hammer 13 is plastic-coated and slides vertically relative to a bar 33 which is moun ted on bolts 31, 32, eccentrically located on discs 29, 30 rotated by motor 14. The hammer is adjusted vertically relative to bar 33 by an air cylinder (12) or a rack-pinion or screw shaft mechanism and only engages bars 42 in its lowered position. Two such hammers and driving mechanisms may be located on opposite sides of the press to vibrate opposite ends of the same bars 42 as they move along the press together. The two hammers may rotate in opposite directions and/or at different speeds to apply torsion to the cloths. A single hammer could move along the central longitudinal plane of the press.
