934,397. Driving apparatus for endless conveyers. BADISCHE MASCHINENFABRIK A.G. Dec. 1, 1959 [Dec. 4, 1958], No. 40724/59. Class 78 (1). An endless conveying member, such as an endless train of load-carrying trolleys running on a rail track for foundry work, is moved intermittently by a crank drive which is driven by a motor controlled by switching means operable in dependence upon the crank angle so that the crank drive is driven from one dead centre position to the other and is stopped temporarily in each dead centre position. As shown, the trolleys 5 have running wheels engaging the track 6, and abutments 8 which are successively engaged by an entrainment assembly 7 consisting of a pair of pivoted dogs retractable by a fluid-pressure cylinder controlled electrically, the assembly being mounted on a trolley 2 for reciprocation parallel to supporting rails 3 by crank 1 through link 10. Limit switches 11 are disposed at or just preceding the dead centre positions 12, 13 of the crank and are arranged in a circuit (not shown or described) such that upon actuation of either switch the motor driving the crank is temporarily stopped and the cylinder of the entrainment assembly 7 appropriately actuated to release or engage an abutment 8, so that the trolleys 5 are driven step-by-step.
