Abstract
1521836 Finger operated pump LEEDS & MICALLEF 25 Aug 1976 [16 Sept 1975] 35300/76 Heading F1A A liquid dispensing pump comprises an outer shell 16, a dispensing nozzle 24 which may be integral with the shell 16, a flexible tubular member 20 of synthetic or natural resin or plastics elastomeric material, defining a pump chamber 22, the upper end of which is secured between an inner shell and the outer shell 16, the inner and outer shells defining two diametrically opposed apertures (60, 61), Fig. 2 (not shown) through which an operators' fingers can pass to depress the wall of the tubular member 20. The lower end 64 of the tubular member 20 defines a seat 74 for a ball 76 to define an inlet check valve 78 and an annular sealing lip (70), Fig. 2 (not shown), of the tubular member 20, co-operates with a lip 38 of the outer shell 16 to define an outlet valve 40. The outer shell 16 is screw-threadedly engagable with the neck of a container 14 from which liquid may be drawn via a dip tube 82. Air is admitted to the container via an air inlet valve 50 formed by the flexible wall of the tubular member 20 and a flange 48 of the inner shell. In an alternative arrangement, the outer shell 16 may be crimped over a bead on the neck of a container.
