Abstract

1520791 Adjusting vehicle headlamps LUCAS ELECTRICAL Ltd 19 Dec 1975 [2 Jan 1975] 155/75 Heading F4R A vehicle headlamp assembly comprises a lamp body 12 adjustably mounted in a hollow housing 10 and manually adjustable means for selecting any one of a plurality of positions of the body relative to the housing, the means comprising relatively rotatable cam and cam follower members 17, 18, the cam having a plurality of diametrically extending recesses of different depths and the follower having a diametrically extending ridge 20 for engagement with the recesses. The cam 17, which has a cylindrical recess 25 to receive the ridged head 19 of the cam follower 18, is rotatably mounted on an adjusting screw 14 which extends rotatably through a bore 23 in the follower and is engaged in a threaded bush 15 secured to the housing 10. The follower 18 has a base portion 21 which is non-rotatably engaged with the body 12 and is connected to the ridged head 19 by a cylindrical portion 22. The cam and follower are held in engagement by a spring 24 acting between the body 12 and the housing 10. The cam 17 may be rotated directly by hand or may be connected by a remote-control linkage to an operating member in the driving compartment of the vehicle.
