Abstract

1520454 Releasable fastenings RAYCHEM CORP 14 Aug 1975 [15 Aug 1974] 33891/75 Addition to 1395601 Heading E2A [Also in Division H2] In a resilient connector the line 17 and 18 are surrounded by a band of memory metal (28, Figs. 2 and 3 not shown) and passageways 23a, 23b are connected to aperture 16. A channel 24 may be formed (Fig. 1E) to act as a solder pot for receiving the end of a conductor. A heat recoverable sleeve (29, Fig. 2) is used to insulate the connector assembly. In a specific embodiment (Fig. 3) the connector is used for joining a wirewrapping post (31) held between lines (17) and (18) in passageway 23a and a stranded wire (30) which is soldered to channel (24). Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown) are modifications of the solder pot in which a cripup (32) prevents solder from entering passageway 23a. In another embodiment (Fig. 6) lines 45, 46 receive a memory metal band (52) Fig. 7, not shown and the barrel 41 has slots 48 defining lugs 49 and is used for securing the device in a peb or a busbar. Passageway 23a is preferably drilled through from the rear of the connector to prevent dishing of the bands 19 and 20.
