Abstract

1519229 Oxidation of oils NYN€S-PETROLEUM AB 7 Nov 1975 46196/75 Heading C5E Mineral oil distillate and/or a solvent extract thereof, having an average molecular weight of 150 to 600 and a Viscosity Gravity Constant of at least 0.85 (e.g. an extract of a lubricating oil distillate), is oxidized with oxygen and/or air and the oxidized extract or distillate is fractionated to separate at least one fraction boiling within the range 300-440‹C. The oxidation can be carried out using a catalyst such as zinc oxide, cobalt naphthenate or copper acetate.
