Spring devices.-A shockabsorber for motor-vehicles &c., arranged one at each end of the axle of a wheel, comprises an eccentric e fast on the axle and freely mounted to turn within a housing h against the action of a scroll spring m, one end of which is pivoted to the eccentric at the point n, the other end to the housing cover i at the point o. To alter the tension of the spring, the cover i may be rotated until different bolt-holes register, or tor slight alterations the small cover p may be removed, the nut g slackened, and the eccentric e turned relatively to the spindle c. To exclude grit and moisture, and to retain lubricant, a plate j is secured to the eccentric by screws and is recessed at its periphery to contain packing- material k.
