Abstract

151,632. Neufeldt & Kuhnke. April 20, 1918, [Convention date]. Escapements.-A vibrating reed carried by a fixed support is used to control the escapement of a clockwork fuse for timing the explosion of projectiles. In the form shown, a clockwork mechanism 3 is driven by a weighted arm 10 when this is subjected to centrifugal force during the flight of the projectile. The drive is transmitted from this arm to the clockwork through a coiled spring 7, and the escapement is controlled by a reed 4 which is set vibrating by the shock to which the projectile is subjected when discharged.
