Abstract

1516096 Bale gripper N A S PEART 10 Nov 1975 [21 Aug 1974] 36827/74 Heading B8H A bale gripper for mounting on the front or rear of a tractor to lift two stooks of bales comprises a frame 2, two side frames 4, 6, pivotally mounted on the frame 2, and an hydraulic actuator 12 for moving the side frames to grip the stooks. Each side frame 4, 6 comprises a sub-frame 20 adjacent the frame 2, with gripping members 16, 18 to engage a first stook, and a sub-frame 26, bolted to the sub-frame 20, with gripping members 22, 24 to engage a second stook. The gripping members 18, 24 are in alignment, the gripping member 16 projects further from the side frame than the member 18 to engage a bale in the first stook before the member 18 and the gripping member 22, which is arcuate, projects further from the side frame than the member 16 to engage a bale in the second stook after the member 16 has engaged a bale but before the member 24 engages a bale.
