Abstract

1514933 Gas burner D V GREAVES 18 Aug 1975 [12 July 1974 17 July 1974 29 Aug 1974] 31018/74 31701/74 and 37752/74 Heading F4T An aerated gas burner comprises a hollow body 1 having flame ports 3, a device 9 for supplying gas and air mixture, and a sheet metal gauze 12 extending across the path of the mixture flowing from device 9 to ports 3 and located in the body by two opposite edges of the sheet, at least part of a wall 5 of the body being adapted to allow the sheet to be slid out of the body. The flame ports are upset in a plate 2, and a mixing chamber 6 is welded to end plate 4 of body 1. A nozzle 11 supplies gas to be mixed with air in chamber 6, and is supplied to venturi 9. Gauze 12 is stiffened at its edge by strips of stainless steel 13, and rests on end plate 4, is located by channels 15 in body 1, and is removed from the body to clear lint, by removing a plug 14 from an aperture in end plate 5 and sliding the gauze out from the body. In a modification, the complete plate 5 is detachable from the body. The edges of the gauze can be located by flanges, shoulders, or channels. In a further modification, gauze 15 Fig. 3, sits on downwardly projecting flanges 18. Other arrangements of gauze are described in conjunction with drawings of provisional Specifications 31701/74, 37752/74 (not shown).
