1514708 Latches JAMES GIBBONS Ltd 15 Aug 1975 [8 July 1974] 30185/74 Heading E2A A latch capable of securing a pivoted window or fanlight in a closed or a slightly open position comprises rack keeper part 11 on the frame 13 of the window and a gear wheel part 10 secured to the frame 12 of the window. The gear wheel is latched against counterclockwise (i.e. releasing) rotation, by a spring-loaded pawl 24 pivoted to the window frame at 26. This pawl is released to allow opening of the window by a slider (27) having a pull-ring 27a for drawing it out against spring-loading 31 whereupon a pin 28 on the pawl is entrained by the slider to rotate the pawl counterclockwise to free the gear wheel.
