Abstract

1514515 After treatment of polyurethane foams KOEPP AG 23 May 1975 [27 May 1974] 22658/75 Heading B5A Polyurethane foam in particulate or continuous form is treated with an organic solvent of donicity greater than 20, donicity being defined as the negative value of the energy of formation of the solvent-antimony pentachloride adduct, and at the same time or subsequently is moulded by heat and pressure. The shaped article is cooled after the evaporation of the organic solvent. The heating takes place between 40‹ and 170‹ C. and the organic solvent may be mixed with a miscible liquid which is not capable of facilitating deformation of the foam on heating. Examples of each are given. The process is particularly suitable for manufacturing an artificial leather.
