1307876 Foamed articles GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO 16 June 1970 [14 July 1969] 29100/70 Heading B5A A process for producing a skin-covered foamed article comprises a skinning cycle and a foaming cycle, in which the skinning cycle comprises loading a mould on a support 2, heating the mould at station 3, coating the mould with skin forming material at station 4 heating the material at station 6 to form a skin and transferring the mould to a mould retainer 12 to commence the foaming cycle in which the mould is filled with foamable material at station 14 then foamed and cured and moved to station 17 where the foamed article is removed and the mould is returned to support 2. A second coat of skin forming material may be applied at station 8. A spray or paint coating station 18 may be provided in the foaming cycle. The mould supports 2 and retainer 12 are moved through the cycles on tracks I and 13 respectively. The skin and foamable material may be polyurethane.
