Abstract

1513706 Propellants CANADA NATIONAL DEFENCE MINISTER OF 14 Jan 1977 [16 Jan 1976] 1443/77 Heading C1D [Also in Division C3] Solid propellant compositions comprise (A) a binder containing (1) a hydroxy-terminated polybutadiene, (2) a diisocyanate curing agent, (3) a reaction product of an aziridinyl phosphine oxide and a polycarboxylic acid and (4) a reaction product of an alkanolamine and a saturated aliphatic polycarboxylic acid and dispersed therein (B) finely divided ammonium perchlorate, preferably in a di- or trimodal distribution of particle sizes between 1 and 400 Ám. The propellant may contain finely divided aluminium or magnesium, and a burning rate additive or catalyst, e.g. iron oxide, copper chromite or organometallic compound. Examples describe compositions of ammonium perchlorate, aluminium, ferric oxide and binders comprising hydroxy-terminated polybutadiene, diisocyanate, phenyl-#-naphthylamine, isodecyl pelargonate, reaction product of tris(methyl aziridinyl) phosphine oxide, d-tartaric acid and adipic acid, and reaction product of N-methyldiethanolamine and sebacic acid.
