Abstract

151,367. Smallwood, A. June 24, 1919. Metal-heating furnaces.-In a gas-fired furnace comprising regulable vertical gas-supply flues c arranged at intervals along the sides in conjunction with regulable ports l for preheated air, the waste gases pass from the working chamber by ports o, distributed both laterally and longitudinally over its floor, into arched fues n supporting the floor, and thence to longitudinal recuperator flues q. The air flues of the recuperator comprise flues g, h and i, the latter being connected by flues j to the ports l. The fuel gas is supplied by a producer at the end of the furnace. The Provisional Specification mentions the application for the heating or treatment of malleable castings, and also describes a modification in which the gas and air ports are located along one side only, the waste-gas ports, each of which ;s fitted with a damper, being arranged along the other side.
