Abstract

1513012 Nozzles ATLANTIC RICHFIELD CO 1 May 1975 [9 May 1974] 18248/75 Heading B2F [Also in Division B8] A petrol-dispensing nozzle assembly 10 comprises a housing 11 including an actuating trigger 14, an inlet conduit 12, a discharge spout 13 and a flexible bellows 17 having at one end an annular collar 21 carrying a compressible cellular plastics material 23 which in use seals against a vehicle fillpipe, Fig. 2 (not shown), so that vapour from the fillpipe will enter the bellows through annular space 23 and thence leave via aperture 20 to be rendered harmless, the bellows being sealed at its other end onto a tapered portion 16 of the housing. Suitable compressible cellular plastics materials include foams of polychloroprene rubber, polyethylene, silicone, urethane polymer, polyvinylchloride, polytetrafluoroethylene, cellulose acetopropionate or urea-formaldehyde resin, and the material may have a skin or coating of leather or polychloroprene. A unidirectional magnet may be included in the collar 21. The bellows may be formed of polychloroprene rubber and a retainer 15 is provided to maintain the trigger in its operative position. A circular or square section retention spring (26) may optionally be provided to assist in maintaining the spout in the fillpipe during use.
