Abstract

1506528 Marine shunter craft: towing vessels CAMAT INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORTATION CONSULTANTS Ltd 4 Aug 1976 [8 Aug 1975] 33158/75 Heading B7V A marine shunter craft is self propelled and has a pair of clamping arms for engaging the sides of a vessel to be manoeuvred and means for connecting the craft to the vessel. As described the clamping arms 20, 22 are pivotally connected at one end to the hull respectively and their free ends carry pneumatic fenders 24, 26 or they may carry magnets. The arms are guided for arcuate movement by tracks 30, 40 and are moved by rams 32, 42. The shunter craft has two hooks 52 which are vertically adjustable by rams 48, 50 and are for receiving lines from a vessel to be manoeuvred. The craft is propelled by a pair of jet drive units having a jet deflector at their outlets which is rotatable through 360 degrees for steering the craft. It is suggested that the shunter craft may be remotely controlled.
