Abstract

1506504 Power plant with hot air engine E R IVERSEN 20 June 1975 27651/75 Headings F1Q and F1S [Also in Division F4] A hot-air engine plant includes a reciprocating piston and cylinder 8, 9 fed with air from a heatexchanger comprising a plurality of tubes 4, 12, each tube having an outlet valve 6, as well as inlet 3 and vent valves 5. The heat-exchanger may be placed in a parabolic mirror for heating by solar radiation or may be heated by nuclear power. Cold air e.g. from a blower 1 enters each tube 4, 12 via inlet valve 3 while residual hot-air vents through valve 5. The valves 3, 5 are closed and the air heated in the tubes, hot air being expanded into the piston and cylinder 8, 9 on opening of outlet valve 6. The tubes 4, 12 may be opened in sequence to expand hot air into the piston and cylinder on successive engine downstrokes, the outlet valves 6, 13 being electrically controlled, or spring-biased and controlled by cam-shafts.
