1505640 Bale press HYDRAULIC APPLICATIONS Ltd 21 May 1975 [11 July 1974] 30767/74 Heading B5F In a press for baling waste paper, cloth &c. in a chamber having at least one side-wall movable from contact with a bale before removal of the bale, means are provided for raising the bale from the floor 14 of the chamber so that removal means, such as the forks of a fork lift truck, may be inserted between the bale and the floor. In the example at least one of the walls shown in broken lines may be hinged to the press, the top plate 10 of which is operated by an hydraulic jack 6 supplied by a pump 12 and controlled by a box 13. The floor 14 and a cover 11 of the top plate 10 may be of wood grooved at 15 to facilitate tying; alternatively, the floor may be of metal or resin-bonded compressed fabric. One or two hydraulic jacks 18 acting through holes 16 in the floor 14 raise the bale. Alternatively, pneumatic, electric or a manual-operated screw-jack may be used, or a system of levers. Lifting by the top plate 10 may be effected through pins slidable beneath the tizs manually or by power means. In another arrangement, the horizontal limbs of L-shaped levers lift the bale when the levers are raised by hydraulic jacks connected to pins on upright links of the levers. Side jacks may operate lift members insertable into the bale.
