Abstract

1505012 Welding by fusion LA SOUDURE ELECTRIQUE AUTOGENE PROCEDES ARCOS SA 4 March 1976 [27 March 1975] 08768/76 Heading B3R [Also in Division C7] A consumable arc welding electrode having a flux coating, the electrode consisting of a core based on iron, or of mild or low alloy steel and the coating comprising dry powders having the following composition in per cent by weight of the dry powders: metallic powder (e.g. iron) or powders 45-75 deoxidizer(s) 8-15 MgCO 3 and/or MgO 10-20 TiO 2 and/or ZrO 2 8-15 iron oxides() and/or iron carbonates 2-8 the dry powder being mixed with a bonding agent of aqueous alkali metal silicate(s) in amounts of 15-30 parts of silicate(s) to 100 parts of the dry powders. The deoxidizer may be one or more of FeMn, FeSi, FeTi, FeSiTi, FeSiMnAl, and up to 5% of the metallic powders may be one or more of Ni, Mo, Cr. The flux coating may also contain up to 4% CaCO 3 , up to 3% organic material, up to 5% of crystite or one or more of Ca, Mg and Al fluoride and the ZrO 2 may be present as ZrSiO 4 .
