Abstract

1504518 Scraping solids from settling tanks SIMON ENG Ltd 7 April 1975 [18 May 1974] 22278/74 Heading B1D A settling tank is provided with reciprocable carriage supported on wheels 18 running on the bottom of the tank, and carrying pivotably mounted scraper arms 22 supporting blade 23. In one direction of travel the blade 23 scrapes the solids into hoppers at one end of the tank; in the other direction, the blade is inoperative. At the one end of the tank the blade is pivoted into its inoperative position by ramps 38 (only one shown) and held there by pins 36 on arms 22 engaging recesses 35 in pivoted latch bars 34. At the other end, the bars 34 are engaged by stops 37 and pivoted to release the blade 23 into its operative position. The carriage may have guide rollers which run on the side walls of the tank. The blade may comprise a buoyancy compartment 24.
