Abstract

150,444. Jennings, F. A. June 6, 1919. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Sparking-plugs.-Consists in making these with a porcelain insulator a having a central bore a<1> enlarged at its ends a<2>, a<3> for the reception of mica washers c', c clamped between a head b<1> at the inner end of the central stem b and a nut d screwed to the outer end of the stem. The insulator has an outer conical surface and is secured in the shell e over washers f by an annular nut e<1> provided internally with a corresponding conical surface. The inner end of the shell is fitted with an inwardly projecting plate g and an outwardly projecting cup h which is bored and slotted to form sparking-points around the central electrode b<2>. The plate g and the cup k are secured in the shell by bending the edge of the shell over the edge of the cup h; and a washer may be interposed between the plate and the cup. The plate g is bored centrally for the passage of the electrode b<2>, and may also have smaller holes arranged around the centre. An asbestos washer g<1> is inserted over the plate g. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 5210/09, 6104/10, and 1281/13
