Abstract

1504399 Seals SULZER BROS Ltd 7 July 1975 [9 July 1974] 28534/75 Heading F2B In the sealing gland of a valve, e.g. a thermostatically-controlled radiation valve, an annular chamber 17, having restricted communication with the fluid in the remainder of the valve, is interposed between elastomeric sealing ring 14 and chamber 16, which is open to the fluid. The dimensions of chamber 17 and the axial travel of spindle 12 are such that part of the spindle which contacts the ring 14 never extends into chamber 16 and is thus shielded from deposition of line or other impurities. Ring 14 is packed with grease and chamber 17 may also contain grease.
