Optical-projection apparatus. - An electrical illuminating-appliance for use with a kinematograph comprises an outer cylindrical casing having two walls 1, 3 and an inner casing 10 which is axially adjustable relatively to the outer casing and carries the reflector 13 and condenser 12. Secured at right-angles to the casing 1 is a sleeve 4 within which is mounted so as to be rotatably and axially adjustable, the holder 5 of a low-voltage lamp 6 having an S-shaped filament 6<1> which is supported by arms 6<11> so as to be eccentric to the axis of the lamp. The lamp can be clamped by the screw 7. Adjustment of the casing 10 is effected by a screw 15 secured thereto which engages with a nut 16. The condenser 12 is mounted in a threaded cover 11 to which is secured an arm 19 having a sleeve 20 which is slidable and rotatable on a spindle 22 and can be clamped by a screw 21. The spindle 22 is integral with a support 23 rotatably mounted on a fixed support 24, the support 23 being provided with a set-screw 26 bearing against a projection 19' on the arm 19. By these means the lantern can be adjusted in relation to the picture to be illuminated and to the projecting system. Circulation of cooling-air is effected by providing slots 27 and apertures 28, 31 in the wall 1, and slots 29, 30 in the wall 3 and casing 10. To test the adjustment of the filament 6'. the screw 15 and reflector 13 are provided with axial holes through which the filament can be inspected.
