Abstract

1502128 Rotary drum filter ALAR ENG CORP 21 Oct 1975 43193/75 Heading BID A "pre coat" vacuum rotary drum filter apparatus comprises a tank with an open top 14, a hollow filter drum comprising spaced apart end plates connected by spaced parallel rods longitudinally arranged to define a peripheral surface and further spaced rods circumferentially arranged to further define the peripheral surface (Fig. 4 not shown), a filter cloth supported over said peripheral surface, and shaft means extending from each plate, said shaft means at one end being hollow and connected to drum interior through rotary coupling 40 to a pipe means 38 connected to a fluid pump means; said apparatus is so constructed that at least one half of the interior of the rotary drum is located within the tank, and also includes power driven agitator means (47, 48, 42, Fig. 2 not shown) located within the tank and power driven adjustable blade means 55 spaced from the drum to remove filtered solids. The drum may be of steel, cast iron, stainless steel, coated steel, other metal alloys or glass reinforced plastics. The cloth may be any textile material, wire cloth or perforated metal sheet. Filter aid precoat may be of aluminium calcium silicate, such as Fullers earth or bentonite, or diatomaceous earth, amocite asbestos, pulped paper, or synthetic or natural fibres.
